So to understand this process lets look at what you need in order to start making sales and later on discuss how to hack the process.

Now your sales funnel should have 3 simple goals;

  • Get traffic.
  • Generate leads.
  • Sell products.

If it’s doing the first one or two of these but not the third, it could be a long time before your business becomes profitable. You want to bolt out of the gate, not trot along for months or even years gathering your momentum. 

First, let’s look at the top of the funnel – getting traffic. This is where SEO is of paramount importance. The better positioned you are ahead of your competitors in SERPS, the more likely it is that busy and fickle consumers will click on your product page and not your competitors’. Content marketing and paid social media marketing are both effective solutions for getting traffic and we’ll look at those in greater detail later on in this guide.

The important thing to remember is that this stage is about brand awareness, exposure, influence and engagement, not the hard sell. It’s in the way you interact with people on social media. It’s in the content you post on your website (or other people’s websites). It’s in your daily interactions with new prospects. Keep in mind that brand awareness is about more than just letting people know that you exist. It’s about letting them know that you can be of value to them

Now, let’s take a look at the middle of the funnel. This is where we start to capitalize on the brand awareness, we’re building. At this point we’re converting curious consumers into leads. Again, this isn’t about the hard sell. It’s about piquing consumer interest and trying to get them to engage with you.

So, what’s the difference between a prospect and a lead. A lead has given you something important to demonstrate their interest and sow the seeds of engagement with your brand… their email address. This isn’t a guaranteed sale, by any means, but it does indicate that they want to get to know your brand better. The following are all great ways to capture an email address;

  • Free ebooks / white papers
  • Free trials
  • Quizzes and questionnaires
  • Free quotes / appraisals

All of the above are what we call lead magnets.  They need to capture an email but they also need to be of value to the consumer. These can also give you the information you need to give the consumer targeted content, offers and promotions which brings us to the final stage of the funnel.

So, let’s talk about selling. At this point the consumer may be willing to place their trust in you. But it’s up to you to earn it. Consumers are in the “research” phase at this point, and it’s essential to position yourself as the solution to their problems.

Remember that even a qualified lead may take days or even weeks before committing to buy. A combination of targeted email ads, motivating special offers, reminders and retargeting ads can be especially useful in gently nudging the lead towards a purchase. 

With all of this in mind, here are some workable ways to help your funnel flow smoothly;

  • Create attention-grabbing landing pages.
  • Keep a steady flow of traffic coming to them using paid social media marketing, content marketing and social links.
  • Generate lead magnets that are of value to the consumer.
  • Make it quick, easy and worthwhile for them to give you their data.
  • Keep in touch with them through targeted emails which gently encourage leads who are dragging their feet.

Now let’s talk about duplicating & customizing the process (hacking the process). A very easy and very smart way to reach all those 3 goals we previously discussed it to find what’s already having success in your niche market.

Once you’ve found what’s selling like gang busters, you can simply follow the whole funnel sequence of pages and screen capture every single page the sequence sends you through. Note: this entails that you may have to spend money on a product or a service to uncover the following pages that sells a higher value offer.

Screen capturing the pages  and lining them up as the sequence sends you through, will allow you to create a diagram “birds eye view” of the whole funnel process that your competition uses to generate leads and close sales.

Duplicating the same process as your competition while customizing the offer with a better twist of value added bonuses etc can set you up for major success on your first product launch.

Step 5: Start Generating Income Through Paid Social Media Marketing

Returning to the first stage in your funnel, the more traffic you can drive to your online presence, the more opportunities you have to move consumers through your funnel. Remember that traffic is only as profitable as the steps you take to convert all those prospects. Otherwise it’s just a vanity metric. 

You’ll likely have heard that it’s always preferable to get a flow of traffic to your website or online store through organic means. And while this is absolutely true, it can take months or even years to organically grow a following. Paid social media marketing like Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising can help to generate a surge of interest which you can then capitalize upon. Thus, they may first come to you through PPC, but they’ll come back to you organically.

So, how do you create a paid social media marketing campaign that sparks genuine interest and drives profitability?

First you have to consider just how crowded most users’ social feeds are and just how many items are vying for their attention. Your ad needs to draw their attention and deliver your message quickly and efficiently. A colorful image is the best way to do this and should take up at least 50% of your total ad space. You also need an attention grabbing headline and a description appealing enough to get users to click on your Call To Action (CTA). 

Think about how your ad uses images. Do they look professional and high quality? Anything less can cast aspersions on your emerging brand. What sort of colors does the ad use? Do some research on color psychology to see how your use of color can not only grab your attention but compel them to click through. 

Make it easy for satisfied users to like, share and comment upon your ad. Don’t expect it to go viral, necessarily, but if it can generate interest from other users in your prospect’s peer group, that’s definitely a win. 

Finally, and this is the hardest part, make sure that your ad is original. Don’t forget that the average consumer is deluged with marketing messages all day, every day. If your ad is clever, witty and promises genuine value to the user, this is a recipe or PPC success. 

Step 6: Share Your Knowledge And Teach Your Skills To Like Minded People

Your reputation is your most valuable commodity in today’s competitive landscape. So, how do you want to be seen both inside and outside of the business community? 

Do you want to be known as someone who shares their knowledge and teaches their skills to a network of other, like minded people? Or do you want to be the sort of person who takes the money then kicks the ladder out from underneath them? 

One of the many wonderful things about doing business in the digital age is that entrepreneurs have virtually unlimited access to an incredible resource… Each other. In order to be successful in online business you should never be standing still. You should always be gaining and imparting knowledge. 

As soon as you’ve learned a new skill that can contribute to your success in business, share it with others. No entrepreneur can afford to rest on their laurels, and the most successful are always trying to expand and improve upon their skill set. They say that it takes 10,000 hours or 5 years to become an expert at anything.

However, while that may be true for pro athletes, research demonstrates that it’s actually the first 20 hours of practice that is integral to the learning and mastery of a new skill. This can be broken into chunks of just 45 minutes a day. Even the busiest entrepreneurs can commit to that. When learning new skills you should follow this process;

  1. Decide what you want to master
  2. Break it down into a series of component skills
  3. Identify the most important of these skills
  4. Learn enough (through reading and research) to apply the theory in practice
  5. Remove any time or attention barriers to practice
  6. Commit to 20 hours of practice
  7. Get it done. No excuses.

Do this and you’ll always learn new skills that can better your business and build value in your brand. But what’s the best way to share knowledge and skills with others? That’s where content marketing comes in…

Step 7: Write Copy That Sells Your Business As The Solution

Even novices in the world of digital marketing understand the importance of content marketing. Generating regular content in the form of blog posts, white papers, guides and tutorials or even videos is an invaluable way of establishing your business presence. First of all, it affords you the opportunity to create a sense of identity and personality for your business.

People don’t want to do business with anonymous, profit-driven drones. Just because you’re doing business in the online realm doesn’t mean that consumers don’t want that human touch. Through your content, users will get to know the ethos and personality of your business and get a feel for you as its CEO. Establish your personality, knowledge, expertise and experience as the USP of your business. After all, these are the things that none of your competitors can imitate.   

What’s more, taking the time to invest in regular, high quality content can also give your SEO a nice little organic nudge and position you ahead of your competitors in Search Engine Results Pages (especially if your content gets quality engagement, is read all the way through and is shared regularly).

All that said, new entrepreneurs cannot fall into the trap of just writing the first thing that comes into their heads. Yes, it’s important to write from a position of knowledge, passion and excitement, but every post needs to start with a simple question in mind…

“What is the reader going to get out of this?”

If your posts aren’t written and planned with the reader’s needs in mind, your copy will simply come across as self-indulgent or self-congratulatory. It needs to provide real value for them. It needs to help them to solve a problem that they encounter regularly, overcome a common frustration or suggest ways to make their day-to-day lives easier or richer. This is the kind of copy that resonates with readers and gains virality through social sharing. 

Of course, this is easier said than done. And when you’re busy running your business the last thing you can afford is to spend hours staring at a blank screen hobbled by writer’s block. Here are some simple ingredients for a compelling blog post;

Start with what you know- Your copy is much more compelling if it comes from a position of knowledge and authority. What’s more, writing about what you know is much easier and more enjoyable. 

Build upon research- Once you have an outline for your content, ensure that you have the research, sources, stats and figures to back it up. Fail to do your research and not only will you be far more likely to encounter writer’s block, your copy will lack authority… And you may get called out on any false assertions you make.

Start with an outline then add flesh to the bones- It’s much harder to produce great copy when you’re freestyling. Get your key points down in the form of subheadings and then flesh these out later.

Edit and polish- Go away from your desk, grab a coffee then reread what you’ve written. Put yourself in the position of your typical customer. Is it engaging, enjoyable and valuable to them? If not, you may need to polish your post a little.

Follow these 7 steps and you’ll have a strong foundation upon which to build your online business.

How To Start An Online Business From Home In Less Than A Month

It’s a well-known fact that the internet provides countless lucrative business opportunities. However, building a successful online business from scratch is anything but easy. You need to be prepared to invest time, money, energy, and effort into it.

There is no way to get rich overnight, or build a profitable business without lifting a finger. Even if there was, why would anyone share it publicly instead of using it themselves?

So, don’t fall for the get-rich-quick schemes. There simply is no easy way to do this. But, the good news is – there is a smart way to go about building an online business.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s talk about what is possible and how YOU can do it.

Set Your Goal

It needs to be realistic, achievable, and measurable. Simply stating: “I want to make a million dollars” isn’t going to cut it.

That might be the end goal you’ll be working towards; something to motivate you and help you push through.

But, you need to be more down-to-earth when you’re just starting out. In other words, you need to create short-term goals and determine the actions that will help you reach them.

For instance, let’s say your goal is to make $10,000 a month. This can be broken down further into around $350 per day.

Now, you need to figure out what you’re going to sell and how many sales you’ll need to get to generate a daily profit of $350.

This doesn’t mean you’ll hit your goals if you sell 10 products for $35 each. You need to factor in the cost of advertising and acquiring customers.

This might be difficult to ascertain at first. But, once you start deploying advertising campaigns, you’ll know exactly how much acquiring a single customer costs you.

That said, you want to minimize the cost of product creation. This will give you a higher advertising budget, allowing you to find and attract more customers.

Then, you’ll need to price your product accordingly, factoring in the advertising cost.


Develop A Plan & Create Your Product

online businessOnce you have an idea regarding the product price point and the available advertising budget, it’s time to start thinking about what it is you want to sell.

Keep in mind that you want to minimize the product creation cost. With that being the case, information products are likely the best option.

Essentially, these are digital products which you can sell indefinitely. You only need to invest time and resources to create them once.

Essentially, these are digital products like video courses and eBooks. They have several advantages over physical products.

Namely, you only need to spend the time and resources to create them once. After that, you can sell them indefinitely.

And, of course, there is no hassle with inventory or shipping.

Now, the question is: “How do I determine what product I should create?”

To answer that, you need to develop a business plan.

So, let’s take a look at the crucial elements of a successful business plan.


Find Something You’re Good At

One of the first things you’ll need to figure out is what niche (target market) you want to build your business in.

Naturally, it needs to be something you have knowledge and expertise in.

You can’t enter the health & fitness niche, if you’ve been eating pizza and burgers all your life, and have no clue about healthy eating and exercising.

The information product you’re going to create needs to provide a ton of value.

And this is only possible if you know exactly what you’re talking about, and can provide genuinely helpful, relevant information on the subject.

So, sit down and brainstorm what areas you’re good at. You want to choose something you’re knowledgeable and passionate about.

One thing to keep in mind – you need to make sure the niche you choose is profitable as well.

If your expertise is very narrow, and not a lot of other people are interested in the same area, you’ll have trouble finding customers to sell the information product to.


Find A Group Of People Who Are Having A Specific Problem

This is key when building a business that revolves around selling information products.

The usefulness of information products comes from the fact that they help the customer improve their life in some way.

So, they have to either help them solve a specific problem or reach a certain goal.

Essentially, buying an information product is equivalent to investing in yourself.

The audience is looking to develop a skill or learn valuable information that would help them change their current situation for the better.

So, your job is to discover that problem which your knowledge and expertise can help solve.

The product you will be creating is, at its core, a solution to that problem.

So, you’ll need to research your target market, before you make the final decision. You need to be positive that your idea will be well-received by your target audience.

This can be done through surveys and interviews. Alternatively, you can approach people you know are your target audience, and ask them if they would buy a product that gives them a solution to a specific problem.

This is how you validate your idea. If it turns out there’s no need for your solution, you’ll have to go back to the drawing board.


Create The Solution

Once you recognize the wants and needs of your target market, you can start the product creation process.

There are two things you need to take into consideration here.

First – what is the best way to deliver your solution to the audience? Are they more interested in reading a book, or would they prefer watching a series of educational videos?

Second – your level of knowledge and expertise on the subject. For instance, if you know a lot about the topic, you might consider creating an in-depth video course.

You can explain everything in detail, step-by-step, and it’s much easier to consume than a 500-page book.

Keep in mind that both the perceived and actual value of your solution needs to be at least as high as the price point.

So, make sure to deliver quality content that provides actionable advice – so that your customers can actually apply what you teach and get results.

After you determine the format and create the content, it’s time to start promoting your solution and generating sales.


Write A Sales Letter

A sales letter is a web page designed to promote and sell your solution. There are a dozen different ways to create a compelling sales letter.  That said, there are some general rules you’ll want to follow:online business

  • Establish the problem – Frame the burning problem that your product is the solution for. Why is it such a big deal? Share stats or past experiences, and show them they’re not the only ones facing it.
  • Aggravate the problem – Talk about why solving the problem is a huge priority. Explain the long-term consequences of leaving the problem unchecked.
  • Share your story – You need to tell the reader who you are, and why they should trust you. Showcase your knowledge and expertise. Help them relate to you by sharing your personal story, and tell them how you managed to overcome the problem they are facing.
  • Present your solution – Introduce your product and present it as the best possible solution to the problem. Explain exactly what they’re getting by investing in your solution.
  • Create persuasive sales arguments – Talk about the main benefits of leveraging your solution. Paint a picture of what their life will be like after solving the problem for good by using your product.
  • Talk about the investment – This is especially important for high-ticket products. Make them understand that they’re not paying for a product per se, but rather investing in a solution that will help them transform their lives.
  • Guarantee – Create a guarantee that will eliminate or at least lower the risk factor for the customers. This helps remove the buyer’s doubt and greatly facilitates the purchase.


These are just the bare bones of a successful sales letter. However, it’s a good place to start, and having a solid work frame will prevent you from staring at a blank page for hours.

You can always expand on the points I listed here, and add other sections to your sales page, where you deem it’s appropriate.


Test Your Marketing Campaigns

To generate a decent amount of new customers, you’ll have to invest in advertising.

There are a number of different advertising channels to choose from. You can advertise on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, run ads on Google Adwords, buy Solo Ads, etc.

Whichever approach you decide to take, it’s important to test out your marketing campaigns.

Testing the campaigns basically means investing a certain amount of money and seeing how many sales each of the campaigns generates.

Try out different ad copy and visuals, and several different ways of framing your offer. Compare them to see how each is performing.

It’s best to discontinue the ones that aren’t getting results, and scale the ones that prove fruitful.

Increasing your advertising budget for campaigns that are profitable will allow you to get your offers in front of more people, and boost your online income.

Nobody can tell you exactly what will work for your business and your audience. The only way to know for sure is by testing and improving your marketing.

So, don’t be afraid to experiment with different versions of ads. Once you know what’s working, you can improve your conversion rates and drastically increase your return on investment.


Create A Timeline

You won’t get anything done if you try to do everything all at once.

Instead, set a specific timeframe for each of the crucial activities. This will ensure that you’re fully focused on the task at hand and remain productive.

Here’s roughly how it should work:

First Week

Dedicate the first week to researching your audience and your target market. Again, you need to make sure that there is indeed a demand for the solution you plan on creating.

You want to validate your idea before going any further. It needs to be profitable if you’re hoping to build a long-term, sustainable business.

Without research, you’re basically going in blind. And you might spend a decent amount on product development and advertising, only to realize that nobody’s interested in what you have to offer.

That’s something you want to avoid at all costs. So, do the necessary research.

The data you gather from the research is invaluable. It will help you create a product your customers want, and frame the offer in a way that will appeal to them.

Second Week

Once the research phase is complete, set a week aside for product creation.

Remember, the product needs to be high quality and deliver massive value. That’s the only way to reliably and consistently acquire new customers and keep the sales going.

That’s said, don’t worry about creating anything fancy. You can always improve upon it further down the line.

For now, focus on creating valuable content and delivering a step-by-step solution to the audience’s problem.

This will be your core product, so spend as much time and energy creating it as necessary. If it flops, the future of your entire business might not be bright.

Third Week

Take an entire week to craft a compelling, persuasive sales letter. Trust me; you’ll need the entire week.

The sales letter is just as important as the product, if not even more so.

Because, even if you have the best product on the market, if your sales letter is bad – nobody’s going to buy it.

A great sales letter, on the other hand, can sell thousands of products, even if the product itself is mediocre.

Remember, you need to create persuasive sales arguments and tell the reader exactly what the benefits of leveraging your solution are.

Fourth Week

Once everything else is set up, you can spend a week creating and testing out your ads. That’s the only way you’re going to figure out what works and what doesn’t for your business.

So, write up a few copies for a bunch of ads, and let them run for a few days. Then, compare your results and see which headlines, visuals, and offers give the best results.

Combine the best elements into one or two ads, and scale them by increasing your advertising budget.

You’ll have to invest time, money, and energy to learn and develop your skills… That’s the only way to build a business that will generate a sustainable income for years to come.
