However, you shouldn’t take this for granted. Obviously, depending on the audience, the best time to post on Instagram varies for different brands.

There have been many studies singling out certain days of the week and times of day…

This can give you a good starting point, but you’ll probably have to experiment with different times to figure out what works best for your Instagram audience.

Instagram relies on a dynamic algorithm, that constantly changes and evolves. If you want to keep up, you need to constantly test, measure, and refine your strategy.

With the new update, the algorithm factors in not just how many users engaged with your posts, but also how quickly.

So, if you want to get your message in front of as many people as possible, and avoid having your content buried under a pile of other posts – you need to find that sweet spot.

When’s The Best Time To Post On Instagram?

Obviously, the best time to post is when the bulk of your audience is online.

I know that still doesn’t answer the question, but bare with me…

The vast majority of active Instagram users fire up the app every day.

That’s awesome. That’s great news for your brand!

It means you can (and should) post daily on the platform.

Some days your posts will get more engagement than others. After some time, you’ll start to see the pattern emerge.

In their study, Hubspot found that Mondays and Thursdays seem to be performing the best.

The time of day didn’t seem to play a huge role, but they suggest avoiding posting between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Some brands found success by posting during the Monday morning commute (8 a.m – 9 a.m.).

However, with the videos, the story is a bit different. The best times seem to be between 9 p.m. and 8 a. m.

And it makes perfect sense, if you think about it. People might scroll through a few pictures, but they sure aren’t going to watch Instagram videos during work hours.

This is a good starting point, but you shouldn’t take these times as absolute truths.

Different studies have come to different conclusions regarding the best time to post on Instagram, after all.

Letergramme 

This service, which lets users schedule their Instagram posts, analyzed over 61,000 posts in search of the average best times to post on the platform.

The results indicated that Wednesdays performed slightly better than other days. The best times to post were between 2 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern.

Doesn’t really narrow it down, but it’s a start.

Sprout Social

Sprout Social did something similar, and they’ve found that posts get more engagement on:

  • Wednesdays around 3 p.m.
  • Thursdays at 5 a.m., 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m.
  • Fridays at 5 a.m.

What this goes to show you is that there really is no universal answer.

It’s really difficult to pinpoint the exact time of each day when post are likely to receive more engagement.

You have to factor in all the different audiences and time zones, which further complicates things.

So, unfortunately, there is no shortcut. You’ll have to experiment with different times to figure out what works for your brand and followers.

However, what these studies do provide is a solid framework. You can take them as a good starting point and should expect to get more engagement on:

  • Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
  • During the morning commute between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
  • End of the 9-5 workday (around 5 p.m.)
  • Early birds (around 5 a.m.)

The next step is to measure the results of different days and times of day.

That’s literally the only way to figure out YOUR best time to post.

Tailwind did a study on how often you should be posting to Instagram. The simple answer is – at least once per day.

Their research showed that in over three months, people who moved from posting less than once a day to seven or more posts a day increased their likes by nearly 13 times

Thus this shows by scheduling more automated postings per day through out the week can drastically increase your likes.

Again, the times these studies found to be the best might not work for your business.

It really depends on when your target audience is online and using the app.

So, like it or not, you’re going to have to do some testing and tweaking.

Here are a few general rules to help you find your best time to post on Instagram:

1. Right Timezone To Schedule Instagram Posts

Regardless of where you’re located, you need to post with your audience’s geographic location in mind.

If you’re in LA, and the bulk of your active audience is in NY, you want to factor in the time difference when posting.

This is even more important if your audience spans across the whole world. In this case, you might need to experiment with seemingly odd times.

For instance, midnight PST is 8 a.m. in London, and there’s a good chance you’ll reach a good portion of your followers at both locations then.

2. Focus On Off-Work Hours

Typically, posts receive the most engagement during lunch time (11 a.m – 1 p.m.) and after 5 p.m.

And it makes perfect sense, when you think about it. Most people with a 9-5 job don’t have the luxury of browsing Instagram during work hours.

But, they will most likely check it during a lunch break or after work, to stay up to date with the content.

3. Weekdays And Weekends Instagram Posts

It’s ridiculous to think you’d have to set your alarm to post something at a specific time.

You don’t have to be a “slave to the clock”, when there are various software options which allow you to easily schedule your posts on Instagram.

That said, you want to schedule the most important posts on weekdays. Typically, weekends tends to see less engagement, but not by a large margin.

My guess is probably due to the fact that over the weekends, people choose to spend their free time on fun, exciting, or relaxing activities, rather than spending it by looking at their phones.

So, just to be safe, you should post the most important content during the week. But, feel free to experiment with different days and times.

4. Get Insights Using Instagram Calculator

Instagram Calculator provides a ton of valuable data, including your top time zones to get better campaign results.

Relying on comments and likes, you can see when the bulk of your audience is typically online on the platform.

If you notice, for example, that your audience seems to “come alive” between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. – schedule posts at 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 to find the sweet spot.

Once you gather enough data, it’ll be much easier to determine the best days and times to reach your Instagram audience with your contents.

Worst Time To Post On Instagram By Day of the Week And Saturday

Below you can see the best times to post on instagram according to different case studies done.

  • Sunday: 5:00 p.m.
  • Monday: 7:00 p.m. & 10:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 3:00 a.m. & 10:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 5:00 p.m.
  • Thursday: 7:00 a.m. & 11:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 1:00 a.m. & 8:00 p.m.

Although there isn’t a clear-cut answer, there is data you can rely on and use as a framework to help you figure out YOUR best time to post on Instagram.

Just remember to always monitor and measure the performance of your content.

Whether you hate them or love them, you can’t deny one simple fact:

On average, posts with at least one hashtag generate over 12% more engagement than posts without hashtags.

Before we delve into why you should utilize Instagram hashtags, let’s see how they work first.

How Instagram Hashtags Work

The primary function of Instagram hashtags is categorizing the content on the platform.

Whenever you post a new piece of content on Instagram, you have the option to include a caption and hashtags in the post.

Instagram is constantly changing & evolving.

Each new update adds a new feature, or refines an existing one, to further enhance the experience of all users on the platform.

One such feature, that you’ll definitely find interesting, is the ability to analyze the effectiveness of your hashtags.

However, to utilize this feature, you’ll have to create an Instagram business profile or switch to one.

After doing so, you can see how your hashtags perform simply by clicking the desired post and selecting “View Insights”.

This will open up a new page where you can see the post’s reach, as well as impressions.

Impressions now include data which allows you to see how the audience found the post.

#2 – Users Can Now Follow A Specific Instagram Hashtag

Earlier, you only had the option of following other users on the platform.

However, with an update that rolled out earlier this year, you now have the ability to follow hashtags you believe are relevant to you.

In my opinion, this is an awesome and much-needed feature. Now, you can stay up-to-date with all the relevant topics, even if you’re not following the person who posted the content.

Another reason why this is great is because it automatically extends your reach, if you’re already using Instagram hashtags.

It makes it much easier for new people to discover your brand on the platform.

They just have to follow the hashtags you’re frequently using.

Your posts will appear in their feed, and if they like what they see, you’ll gain a ton of new followers.

Following a hashtag is identical to following a profile. You just have to find the hashtag you like, open up the hashtag page, and press the Follow button.

In fact, all you need to do is add the ‘#’ symbol before a relevant word in the bio. Then, Instagram will automatically convert it into a clickable link.

For instance, say  you’re using a branded hashtag on all your posts.

Adding it to your bio would mean that, by clicking on it, users will be able to see all posts that share that hashtag.

In turn, this will allow you to quickly gain tons of new followers.

It seems that the people behind Instagram really want to deliver the right type of content to the right people.

Both the average users and brands on the platform can greatly benefit from hashtags.

For average users, they can now find new profiles whose posts they’ll enjoy, simply by following a specific hashtags.

Does the timing of your posts affect the engagement they receive? Is there the best time to post on Facebook, which would guarantee maximum exposure?

In this article, I will attempt to provide a satisfactory answer to these questions.

I’m sure you know that promoting your content on social media is an excellent way to increase your organic reach, build brand awareness, and engage with potential customers. The trouble is, Facebook’s algorithms are constantly changing.

This can drastically affect whether your content shows up in the user’s news feed.

It goes without saying that your content needs to be interesting and relevant. This is a requirement if you’re hoping to grab the attention of your target audience on Facebook. However, that’s not the only element that determines the exposure of your posts.

Various studies have shown that WHEN you post is equally as important as WHAT you’re posting.

By posting when most of your target audience is browsing through their news feed, you’re drastically improving the chances that they’ll get to see and interact with your content. 

What’s The Best Time to Post On Facebook?

It’s difficult to provide a definitive answer to that question. The answer may largely depend on the type of business you’re running.

It’s also predominantly influenced by the type of audience you’re trying to reach.

In any case, you can’t expect to get an answer like “Thursdays, exactly at 3:14 p.m., if you’re promoting cycling gear”

So, does that mean we’re back to square one? Not necessarily.

Just like everything else regarding online marketing, you will have to do some testing and rely on data to figure out the peak times for your business.

That said, the studies I’ve mentioned earlier can give you a general sense of the average best posting times. They’re a great starting point for determining the best posting schedule for your business.

So, What Do The Studies Say?

According to Quick Sprout, it’s better to post during the week, than on weekends, with engagement being the highest on Thursdays and Fridays.

Another interesting thing they’ve found is that people generally seem a bit happier on Fridays (who would’ve guessed?) and that they interact with funny or upbeat content the most.

Huffington Post has reached a similar conclusion regarding Thursdays and Fridays being the best days to post on Facebook. In addition, the results of their studies suggest that it’s best to avoid posting on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Kissmetrics, on the other hand, revealed that the best day to share stuff on Facebook is Saturday, with shares spiking around noon and later in the evening (after 7 p.m).

Buffer: Engagement rates are 18% higher on Thursdays and Fridays. The best time to post on Facebook has been up for some debate with stats ranging from 1 p.m. to get the most shares to 3 p.m. to get the most clicks, and anytime between before dinner generally. Stats seem to fall anytime after dinner, and posting before work is a long shot.

Dustin Stout confirmed everyone’s suspicions and concluded that posting overnight is generally a bad idea, with the worst times being anywhere between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m.

CoSchedule’s data indicates that the best time to post on Facebook is from 9 – 10 a.m, 1 p.m. at noon, and at 3 p.m. 

They beautifully summed up the findings from different studies, and here’s what they came up with:

Discover The Best Time To Post On Facebook For YOUR Business

Like I mentioned, it’s best to use this information as a baseline. Test out different dates and times to determine when’s the best time to post on Facebook for your audience.

Start by posting your content at the average best times (weekends between 12 – 1 p.m. and Thursdays and Fridays from 1 -4 p.m.)

Monitor the performance of your post, and change it up each week by one or two hours. Do this consistently, and you’ll eventually start picking up on trends and understand which posts get the most engagements, and when.

You don’t need to be chained to your desk to make sure that you’re posting at exactly the right time. 

You can simply schedule your posts. Facebook will post them for you at the time and date that you choose.

First, you’ll need to create the post. Once you’ve satisfied with it, DO NOT hit Publish.

Instead, click the arrow pointing down next to Publish, and select Schedule from the drop-down menu.

Below the publication, select time and date when you want the post to go live, and hit Schedule to confirm.

You can always change the time and date, or completely delete the scheduled post. Simply click on Publishing Tools at the top of your page. From there, navigate to Scheduled Posts in the left column, and click on the post you want to edit.

I would recommend posting only once a day. This helps ensure the audience has an equal chance to interact with every post.

That said, you can also rely on Facebook’s Insights to get comprehensive reports on all of your posts. Here, you can see which ones have had the most engagement, and use that data to determine when your audience is usually online.

When on your page, simply navigate to Insights and then click Posts to see when your audience interacts with your content the most.

One final thought: Time zones can play a huge role in determining when you should post. So, if your audience spans all over the globe, take that into consideration and adjust the posting times accordingly. Aim to hit the best time for the majority of your audience.

Creating content that addresses those issues and provides a solution will pretty much guarantee engagement.

It’ll also elevate you in the eyes of your target audience.

There are multiple ways to leverage the Q&A from your webinars. Here are a few:

  •       Expand the FAQ page on your website –Add the questions you received on the webinar on your site’s FAQ page. If a question arose multiple times during the presentation, your website visitors are probably wondering the same things. Given the amount of research and preparation that goes into creating great content for the webinar, you should already have everything you need to create an infographic.

Slide decks and infographics are fairly similar. They both deliver useful information in a short and simple format that’s easy to consume.

If you already have awesome slides, transforming them into an infographic will be a breeze.

You can rely on one of the free online tools like Canva or Infogram.

Upload your slides, and use a simple drag & drop menu to create stunning infographics in a flash.

Quick Tip: You don’t have to jam all the slides into a single infographic. If the content is split into multiple topics, create an infographic for each!

Use Facts, Quotes, And Stats To Create Social Posts

The audience on your webinar really liked a fact, quote, or stat you shared with them? Then, why not share it with ALL of your audience on your social media profiles?

Repurposing webinar content gives you that opportunity.

Simply watch your webinar recording, and find an interesting, relevant, useful stat or a quote your audience responded to well, and use it to create an engaging post on Facebook or Twitter, for example.

Just make sure it’s aligned with your brand and previous social media campaigns, and don’t forget to include your website and social media handles in the post.

If you’ve already transformed your webinar content into blog posts and infographics, you’ve already done most of the work necessary to create a guide/PDF report.

That’s why I believe repurposing webinar content is so awesome. You get to create several amazing pieces of content, without sweating your brow!

In this case, you simply need to expand on the topics covered in your webinar to create a comprehensive resource that goes into a bit more detail and provides additional information your audience will find useful.

You can even combine the content from multiple webinars and several blog posts, and create a step-by-step guide the audience can follow when implementing what you teach.

How-to guides and PDF reports are extremely effective lead magnets. Therefore, you should definitely include them in your overall marketing strategy.

Create A Short Educational Video Series

Educational videos are an excellent way to deliver engaging content to your audience.

They’re also extremely effective when it comes to extending your reach and generating leads for your business.

To convert your webinar into a great video series, you can simply edit the footage to present the most useful information you shared on the webinar.

Then, just re-record the audio to align it with new visuals.

You can create multiple videos from a single live webinar and use them as a lead magnet.

Alternatively, you can always share them with your email subscribers and social media followers to boost engagement.

For example, you can create a landing page featuring one of the videos as the first in the short series. Then, you can ask the prospects to enter their name and email to get the follow-up videos directly to their inbox.

You can also upload these videos to your company’s YouTube channel. They will help drive more traffic from the world’s second biggest search engine back to your website.

  • And ultimately – click your links and check out your offers

Now, I’m not just talking about holidays everyone knows and celebrates. New Year, Easter, Christmas, etc. are all a must.

However, you can also include less know holidays and national days.

For instance, if you’re running a flower shop, you wouldn’t want to miss the National Gardening Week.

That’s just one example, but you get the idea. If a holiday is relevant to your business, use it to boost your Facebook engagement!

Depending on the nature of your business, you might even want to look into the fictional holidays.

Regardless of the particular holiday, the goal is the same: getting your audience to interact with your business.

2. Join OR Create A Facebook Group

The Facebook business page isn’t the only option available to you as a business owner.

People often overlook Facebook groups, despite them being an amazing engagement engine.

They allow you to create a community where your prospects can interact with you, as well as amongst themselves.

We all have that innate sense of needing to belong somewhere. If your audience feels they belong in your community, you can bet that most of them will end up as life-time customers.

Well, you have your business page. It’s primarily used to post updates and relevant content, right?

The Facebook group, on the other hand, doesn’t position you as a business interacting with potential customers.

Instead, it gives you the opportunity to be an active member of the community.

It can be your own group, where potential customers can enjoy a more personal relationship with your business. They get to interact directly with the face behind the brand. They can ask questions and promptly receive answers, actionable advice, insights, etc.

Alternatively, it can be a group where you and other experts in your field discuss industry trends. Here, everyone interested in the topic(s) can find valuable information.

If you’re frequently posting and joining discussion, the audience will perceive you as an expert. And they’ll be much more inclined to consider doing business with you, if you’re a recognized authority in your field.

So, you can either find a relevant group or create your own. The choice is all yours!

Here’s the thing… Unless you give the audience a reason to interact with your business, they won’t.

They require an incentive. And I’m not just talking about posts that will be happy to like and comment on.

In fact, I’m referring to stuff that inherently requires audience engagement. More specifically: surveys, polls, and quizzes.

All three options are pretty much guaranteed to spark engagement. Most fans are grateful to share their opinions on a brand they like.

So, ask them to! This is a great way to engage your audience, because you’re asking them a direct question.

Make sure they know that their opinions matter. That you will take their feedback to heart, because your goal is to provide the best possible service and ensure their satisfaction.

Trust me, 99% of people will have an overwhelmingly positive reaction to this. The consumers are generally tired of people trying to force their products on them.

If you appear as someone who genuinely wants to help them improve their life and/or business, they’ll start flocking to you!

That said, surveys are typically reserved for more serious topics. For example, if you’re gathering data on potential customers.

Polls and Quizzes are a bit more relaxed, and honestly – more fun.

4. Post At The Right Times

I’ve already covered this topic in great detail in another post.

So, I’ll be brief here.

The thing to understand here is that when you post something is just as important as what you’re posting.

Depending on your niche, different times might work better or worse. It’s largely determined by when the bulk of your audience is online.

You don’t want to post at 6 am, if your audience is most active during the night hours.

Your post might be fantastic, but it doesn’t really matter if nobody gets to see it…

That said, there are some general rules you can follow. If nothing else, they’ll be a good starting point.

You can change up times by 30 minutes to 1 hour, and compare engagement during different times.

It might sound tedious, but there’s no other way around it. Testing is an essential part of digital marketing.

Here are the best times to post on Facebook for maximum exposure:

These times are a summary of a variety of different studies on the subject.

Taking a closer look at the image above, you can see certain trends.

For instance, Sunday seems to be when the engagement is highest. Which makes sense, if you think about it.

It’s the weekend, people are resting in their homes, browsing Facebook. They’re much more likely to run into your post, than during busy workdays.

As for the times, 9 am, 1pm and 3mp seem to work the best.

Again, this is just a frame you can use as a starting point.

You’ll need to figure the best times for your business yourself.

5. Approach Your Audience Directly

Your fans already like the brand you’ve built on Facebook. They wouldn’t be spending time interacting with it, were this not the case.

Following the same logic, you can say that the majority of them would be glad to directly interact with your brand.

You simply need to initiate the contact. A great strategy here is to ask your audience to share stories of photos, based around the topic your business revolves around, or even one of your products.

For instance, say you’re running a restaurant. You can boost engagement by having your customers take selfies in the restaurant and sharing them with their friends on Facebook. In return, you can offer a free dessert or a small discount on their meal.

You can also create a fun & interesting challenges. Certain products, like wine for example, go along with a certain lifestyle. Here, you can boost Facebook engagement by having your audience submit pictures of their romantic dinners. You can select a few winners, and send them a bottle free of charge.

Check out what The Home Depot did to engage their audience during the holidays:

They didn’t just post an image with a caption “Merry Christmas”.

They got inventive and creative, and gave the audience an incentive to participate in a contest, ensuring their brand stays top of mind during the holidays.

Alternatively, you can just ask them what their favorite occasion to consume your product is.

It’s little things like these that can significantly boost your engagement. With multiple strategies combined, you should interact with your FB audience at least once a week.

So, get creative and always try to come up with new ways to engage them.

6. Take Advantage Of Videos

For better or for worse, Facebook’s quickly becoming more video oriented.

You must have noticed some of the changes that signify this.

For example, when you play a video, you can continue scrolling down. The video will keep playing on the left-hand side of your screen.

I wouldn’t be surprised if, in a few years, videos completely replace other types of posts on Facebook.

So, start thinking for the future and start using videos on Facebook a lot more.

Even the data signifies that this is something all business owners should consider.

As much as photos have been in the spotlight, engagement-wise videos are slowly getting a much better response.

So, go out of your way to enrich your Facebook page with a handful of videos. It’ll pay off tenfold in the long run.

Oh, and lest we forget – there’s also Facebook Live!

This handy (relatively) new feature allows you to livestream for your audience.

You can share important announcements this way, and also give the audience an exclusive look behind the curtain, every once in a while.

Or just share an incredible experience, while chatting with your audience, like I did:

All in all, I believe you should definitely add more videos to your Facebook arsenal.

They’re an amazing way to increase engagement and connect with your audience on a deeper level.

It’s a general rule of thumb that, if you want to get noticed, you need to stand out from the competition.

A daunting task, considering there are tens of thousands brands on Facebook. What you can and should do, however, is boost your engagement.

5 Reasons You Should Have a Podcast

Do you know what the major benefits of creating and running a podcast are?

We live in an exciting, information-rich time. And although there is a plethora of information to help you transform into a stronger, healthier, wealthier version of yourself, the time frame is shrinking and the urgency is rising.

To be successful in today’s ever-changing business landscape, you don’t need recycled theory—you need high-value solutions. And you need them now. And so does everyone else.

If you’re able to create a podcast around your business expertise and your customers’ most pressing needs, and serve it to them in the hour they need it most, your business will grow and multiply.

I was giving a presentation in Austin, Texas, and I asked everyone in the room to raise their hand if they had an iPhone or smartphone of any other brand. Not surprisingly, hands shot up across the room. With hands still raised and my eyes fixed on them, I asked the audience to look around and take careful note… “Why should your business have a podcast?” I asked. The reason that stares us all in the face? Accessibility.

Never before have people had such access to your recorded audio content using iTunes, Google Play, iHeartRadio, Spotify and Stitcher, to name a few. Podcasting isn’t the fringe medium it was once thought to be. It’s mainstream.

Magazines, websites and blogs feature popular podcasts. And Apple added the Podcast app as a default on the iPhone—not new news, but good news as another barrier between the listener and the producer’s content has been lifted. Because let’s say a new iPhone user is sitting on their couch, scrolling through their new tech toy, and they see that little purple icon. A whole new world becomes available to them. And if your show makes it to the top of iTunes, thousands of fingertips are that much closer to becoming your very next listeners.

According to the Infinite Dial in a report released by Triton Digital and Edison Research, 2016 projections show smartphone ownership will increase in all measured age categories. Adding in tablet usage and Bluetooth compatibility, your target market is nearly guaranteed to have access.

One of the best ways to become the authority is to acknowledge specific and relevant questions. Think of it as an audio résumé—it’s your chance to provide service and value to common issues. For example, if you’re a divorce attorney, address the top 10 questions on how to protect your assets throughout a divorce. If you’re a personal trainer, break down the 10 most common weight loss myths.

Real questions + real people + your real-world experience = you building authority.

I don’t care if you’re an acrobat, nurse or zookeeper. You have insight, understanding and productivity hacks that other people want. Don’t assume everyone knows what you know. Start sharing your expertise.

Loyalty

A few weeks ago, I bumped into Dave Ramsey at a party. Whether you agree with his financial advice or not, Ramsey is a prime example of someone who has tapped into accessibility and visibility to build authority. And his followers will defend him as if he’s a blood relative. Why? Because he’s developed something most entrepreneurs dream of—loyalty.

Dave started his business on a card table in his living room. No internet, no fancy equipment and no money. It was his conviction, faith and consistency. And you can do it, too. That’s what it takes—a convicted spirit, faith in your ability and message, and consistent effort.
